Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-term coach Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's first title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since March of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is really nice," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six finals, including in that event previously this season.

His defensive strategy and frequent outbursts on court had led observers to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet saved 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
